Catching up

It's been awhile since I've had the time (or the inclination, honestly) to post, but I am going to try a little harder now that the dust has hopefully started to settle around here. Lots going on!

- This child is 5 months old now! He is just one month away from starting on solid foods (the book he's eating here doesn't count). I can't believe it! I'm excited to see how that all works (and if it helps him sleep a bit better — we seem to be stuck at 7 hours per night, which is not bad, but not great either). On the other hand I am a little sad that he's growing up and life is about to get a bit more complicated. W's latest things are turning over, grabbing his feet and trying to blow raspberries. Well, I can tell that's what he's trying to do, but he usually just ends up making a funny sound and spitting. The pediatrician has given him homework for the next month — sit up! So we're working on that right now.

- I am still way over my pre-pregnancy weight but have decided to do something about it That "something" is not eating less. I'm just not there yet. But, I have decided to exercise more. Inspired by Jenna and a former professor who's my friend on FB, I started C25K. Hopefully this will also help with my mood and energy level, which could both use some help these days.

- Lots of changes at work. Not sure what it all means or where it's all going, but that's about all I want to say about that. I am putting that in God's hands again and again.

- W got his Mexican passport yesterday! In theory, it's a very simple process. You go to an office with your papers and you get it that same day. In practice, we couldn't get an appointment until July (planning to travel in June!!), so we had to show up when the office opened, stand in line, grovel, be ridiculed by a man wearing makeup, hear the infamous "this signature doesn't match," fill out the same form multiple times and wait five hours. Simple as that, right? But we got that $&%!$ passport, so I guess we passed the unwritten test of perseverance and humility required by the Mexican government. The awesome thing is that this passport is only valid for a year. So we'll be back for another guaranteed good time next year!

- Yes, you heard that right! W is going on his first international voyage. For my awesome combo Mother's Day/birthday present, I am going to LA for my friend JB's baby shower, and I am taking the little one. So excited for him to meet my friends, see his grandparents again and take him on his first trip to TARGET! A bit nervous about flying for the first time with baby, without dad!
