Welcome to 2011
Happy New Year everyone! I celebrated here at home with my husband, mother, brother-in-law, in-laws' ubiquitous housekeeper and of course, William! It was a quiet night but nice, and I managed to stay awake against all odds (unlike William). We did the traditional toasts and my husband, of course, blew us away with his very touching words. When it was my turn, I just said, "Last year I had a lot of resolutions, and some of them I accomplished — like this baby — but this year I was too tired to make any resolutions. Happy 2011, cheers everyone!" So it wasn't the most inspired toast ever, but hey, I was honest.
Last year my two main resolutions were to make a quilt and a baby. The baby, we got. The quilt started out strong but I am still stuck holding the same 6 or so stitched-together fabric squares. I had a bunch of secondary resolutions I didn't blog about, like making more friends and working on my accent in Spanish, and I did so-so on those, too.
Right now, it's hard to see past the next few days or so, which are guaranteed to be a constant cycle of breastfeeding, diaper changing and attempts at napping (on both of our parts). Things are going great so far, for sure, but I am not at the point where I can start making big plans for the next 12 months. So, whatever, everyone! Cheers anyway!!
