Full Moon Baby, Part I
I guess there really is something about the full moon! Less than a week after a doctor's appointment where the "road" was still "closed," I was holding a baby in my arms.

I was very blessed with my labor, although it didn't go exactly how I had planned.
Here's how it all started. Around 1:00 p.m. on Monday the 20th, I started having surges (contractions). But they were pretty mild and I was in total denial. I was like, "oh, this must be that 'false labor' you hear about." Then I had a little bit of bleeding. So I called my doc and she was like, "meh, it could still be 3-4 days." That was still waaay sooner than I was expecting! So, I told Francisco I didn't think this baby was going to hold out for 2011.
As the day went on, the surges got stronger and I got to the point where I was like, "dang, if this is false labor, I don't want to experience the real thing!" But I kept doing my normal activities, puttering around the house and wondering what was happening. I was timing the surges and they went from every 8-10 minutes on down pretty steadily. Eventually I lost my mucous plug. Somehow, although in my heart I knew this was labor, outwardly my denial continued. (Foreshadowing: In fact, while my doula had told me to call her at the first sign of labor, I didn't call her until it was too late for her to come attend the birth.)
To be continued....
