I'm at 37.5 weeks now, which means in theory, this babe is fully cooked, or "full term" as the more boring term has it. This milestone has me working on the old hospital bag and starting to freak out about not having baby things ready yet. In theory, the baby could come anytime. However, this week's trip to the doctor revealed no dilation and the baby has not dropped yet, so I think I still have a little bit.

At a certain point in this pregnancy, I was hoping for an extended gestation period, like 18 years or so. (This was in one of those, "I am not ready to be a mom!" moments.) And you know what they say, be careful what you wish for!

On the one hand, I was sort of disappointed to learn I wasn't even a little dilated. I mean, how great is it to just dilate without even realizing it? Sounds good to me. But, on the other hand I think this child knows I have some things to do before his/her arrival, so it's very considerate of him/her to wait a bit longer.
