Third Trimester

It seems third trimester means different things to different people — there is some disagreement about whether it starts in week 27 or 28. Regardless, I'm officially there (and then some) and I can't believe it.

My doctor told me most pregnant women complain the most in the first and third trimesters, and that's true enough. I haven't got too much to complain about, but I have experienced a weird return to the occasional morning pukies, which is really, really not cool. I am going to check with my doctor, because my over-googling has found third trimester nausea and vomiting to be a sign of preeclampsia. If that doctor from the IMSS clinic ends up being right about that, I am going to be so annoyed. Well, more than annoyed of course! Annoyed and preeclamptic.

More than the physical stuff, I just cannot believe that in less than three months I am going to have a baby. That is just so surreal. Despite having researched everything and being enrolled in not one but TWO childbirth classes, I feel totally unprepared for this step. Not that I think I'll be a bad mom, I just am not there yet, you know? The thought is a bit troubling. I know I will fall in love with my baby once I meet him/her, but right now an extended gestation seems like it wouldn't be such a terrible idea. Of course, ask me again when I'm as big as a house.

I am, however, very excited for a trip this weekend to LA. My sweet friends are throwing me a baby shower and I am so happy to have that experience with them!

Honey, I feel you on the unprepared. Why do you think I argued with the doctor when he told me my water had broken and that I had to go to the hospital? And why do you think I was convinced they were going to send me home, until they told me it was time to push? There really is no way to prepare. Just stay as comfy as you can and keep up your hypno nonsense

You will be a wonderful mother! Sometimes we're too smart and inquisitive for our own good. No more Googling.
